Posture Improvement in Aurora, CO

Posture is essential to spinal health, indicating the spine’s overall health. Good posture involves maintaining a neutral alignment of the spine, with the shoulders back and the head held high. This can lead to many benefits that improve the body’s appearance and help prevent chronic pain, cardiac and respiratory issues, and injury. However, some activities can lead to bad posture, negatively affecting the body. When that happens, it is best to seek chiropractic care, an effective way to improve overall posture and optimize overall health and function.

Digital X-rays

Digital X-rays are a powerful tool we use to improve your overall posture. They allow us to see the underlying structure of the spine and identify any issues affecting posture. Specific Chiropractic Care in Aurora, CO

Chiropractic care focuses on spinal alignment and function, which is crucial for good posture. A chiropractor uses various techniques, such as spinal adjustments and soft tissue manipulation, to restore proper alignment and movement in the spine. Correct spinal structure helps reduce pain and discomfort and improve overall posture. In addition, a chiropractor may also provide exercises and stretches to improve muscle strength and flexibility, which can help to support good posture.

Massage Therapy and Soft Tissue Work

These techniques focus on the muscles, tendons, and ligaments that support the spine, which can help to release tension and improve alignment. Massage therapy has been found to improve muscle tone, increase flexibility and reduce pain and discomfort. On the other hand, soft tissue work involves using hands-on techniques to manipulate soft tissues, such as the muscles, tendons, and ligaments, to improve overall posture. This type of treatment can help to increase blood flow and oxygen to the soft tissues, which can help to reduce pain and inflammation and accelerate healing.

Custom Therapeutic Exercise Plan

Strengthening and stabilizing exercises help reinforce and support spinal adjustments. We design these plans to specifically address any postural imbalances or muscle weakness that may affect posture. The program includes exercises that focus on strengthening specific muscle groups, such as the core and upper back, as well as stretching and flexibility exercises. Our doctors will work with the individual to create a plan tailored to your needs and goals, monitor progress, and make adjustments as needed to improve your posture.

Spinal Decompression

Spinal decompression is a non-surgical treatment that can help to improve posture by reducing pressure on the spine. The treatment uses a specialized table that slowly stretches and relaxes the spine, creating negative pressure within the discs. This negative pressure can help to pull herniated or bulging discs back into place, reducing nerve irritation and improving posture. The treatment is performed with the individual lying face up on the table, with straps around the waist and legs. The table is then adjusted to stretch and relax the spine, targeting specific areas of the spine experiencing pain or discomfort. Spinal Decompression is a gentle and non-invasive treatment that can address various conditions that affect posture, including herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, and chronic back pain.

Doctors kept trying different prescriptions to help with my recurring headaches after a car accident. This went on for several years with only temporary relief. It only took a few visits to Infinity Wellness for the headaches to go away! I am so thankful to them for the thoroughness of their examinations and for listening to what is being said. They are truly there for their patients! Highly recommended.

I highly recommend Infinity Wellness Center! It’s my first time ever going to a chiropractor, so I made the time to do my research and I came across IWC, prior to coming I was suffering with severe headaches/migraines, I wasn’t sleeping (approximately 3-5 hours) I was always anxious, my anxiety was high. I would see my primary doctor, and with my concerns I would just be prescribed another medication. I honestly was over the medication, tired of living on Excedrin, and always thinking something is wrong with me. I needed an alternative to get my mind and body on track. With no recommendations, no one in my life that has been or seen a chiropractor I went in with no idea what to expect. I’m so grateful I listen to my heart about this decision. I’m a month into my treatment plan, and I haven’t experienced a headache/migraine, my sleep has improved significantly I’m getting about 7-8 hours a night. My anxiety has improved as well. I’ve been catching myself working through it differently, things that usually trigger my anxiety don’t trigger me as much as before. Dr. Troy, Dr. Zac and the whole Team and Infinity Wellness are truly amazing! They have made this experience so easy and smooth. I’m Truly grateful for this team.

Common Causes of Poor Posture in Aurora, CO

Tech Neck

Tech Neck is a term used to describe the posture that results from prolonged use of technology devices such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops. The posture’s forward head tilt and rounded shoulders can lead to muscle strain, headaches, and chronic pain. Constantly hunching over a device forces the neck and shoulders to remain in a forward-leaning position for extended periods. This posture can lead to tightness in the upper back and neck muscles and weakness in the upper back and shoulder muscles. It causes an imbalance in the muscles that support the neck and spine, which can lead to chronic pain and poor posture. To prevent tech neck, it is vital to take regular breaks, stretch, and engage in exercises that target the upper back and shoulders.

Sedentary Lifestyle

When our body is not moving enough, and we spend most of our time sitting, it can lead to poor posture, chronic pain, and other health issues. Movement is life and is critical to reduce inflammation, pain and speed up healing. A sedentary lifestyle can cause an imbalance in the muscles that support the spine, leading to poor posture. Additionally, sitting for long periods can cause the spine to compress and put strain on the muscles, leading to chronic pain and discomfort. To prevent the adverse effects of a sedentary lifestyle, it is essential to exercise regularly, take frequent breaks, and maintain an active lifestyle.

Stress

Stress causes muscle tension which can lead to an imbalance in the muscles that support the spine. Additionally, stress causes the body to adopt a protective stance, leading to a hunched over posture. This posture strains your muscles and can lead to chronic pain and discomfort. Engaging in stress-relieving activities such as yoga or meditation and taking frequent breaks to stretch and relax the muscles is crucial to prevent the negative physical effects of stress.

Muscle Weakness

Muscle weakness results from injury, illness, or a lack of physical activity. Weak paraspinal muscles can’t adequately support the spine in its proper alignment and allow bad posture habits to take root. Muscle weakness can lead to an imbalance in spinal muscle function resulting in chronic pain, discomfort, and a decrease in overall mobility and function.

Scoliosis

Scoliosis is a condition that affects around 3% of the population, primarily impacting adolescents and young adults. It is characterized by a curvature of the spine that can take a C or S shape. Scoliosis is a postural abnormality and results in chronic pain and difficulty with movement and can have harmful effects on a patient’s internal organs. Chiropractic care can help manage scoliosis symptoms and stop the progression of the condition. In some cases, it can decrease the degree of scoliosis in a patient’s spine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a chiropractor help you with posture?

Yes! We are trained to assess and treat the musculoskeletal system, which includes the spine. Using manual adjustments and other techniques, we help align the spine and improve the function of the muscles that support the spine. Realigning the spine and reducing muscle tightness can improve your overall posture and relieve chronic pain and discomfort. We use therapeutic exercises, spinal decompression, spinal adjustments, and soft tissue work to support posture improvement.

Can a chiropractor permanently fix posture?

A chiropractor can help improve overall posture and alleviate symptoms related to poor posture. With regular chiropractic care, adjustments, lifestyle changes, and exercises we work with patients to break bad habits and build good ones that will help them improve and maintain their posture. It is also important to note that some cases of poor posture may be caused by underlying conditions requiring additional medical attention.

How long does it take a chiropractor to fix bad posture?

The time it takes for a chiropractor to improve bad posture depends on the individual case. Factors that can impact the timeline include the severity of the posture problem, the underlying cause of the problem, and the patient’s overall health and fitness level.

Can you realign your own spine?

The spine is a complex structure, and we don’t advise trying to realign your own spine. Self-treatment may not address the underlying cause of poor posture, so it’s essential to consult a chiropractor for proper diagnosis and treatment.

How do you know if your body is out of alignment?

There are several signs that your body may be out of alignment, including:

  • Chronic pain or discomfort – pain or discomfort in the neck, back, or joints can indicate that your body is out of alignment.
  • Imbalanced muscle tone – if you notice that certain muscles are more developed or tight than others, this can be a sign that your body is out of alignment.
  • Uneven distribution of weight – if you notice that you tend to lean to one side or that one shoulder or hip is higher than the other, this can be a sign that your body is out of alignment.
  • Limited range of motion – if you cannot move your body through a full range of motion, this can be a sign that your body is out of alignment.
  • Postural distortion – if you notice that your head is tilted forward, your shoulders are rounded, or your lower back is curved, this can be a sign that your body is out of alignment.

Can a chiropractor help with slouching?

Slouching is a common problem caused by factors, such as poor ergonomics, muscle imbalances, and spinal misalignment. A chiropractor will conduct a comprehensive examination to determine the cause of the slouching and create a personalized treatment plan to address any structural or functional issues. The chiropractor may also teach the patient to maintain good posture, especially when sitting and standing. They may also provide soft tissue work such as massage, stretching, and dry needling in special conditions to help release any muscle tension contributing to slouching.
