How the Adjustment Table Supports the Belly

Hey guys, Dr. Zac here with the Infinity Wellness Center. We specialize in pregnancy, and so with our adjustment table here, this middle piece will lift up to a pretty high level, depending on where you are at in your pregnancy, to allow that belly to be able to have some open space here for relaxation, as well as to be able to have less stress on that lower back.

So I’m gonna show you here. We have Bailey. She’s gonna go through what an adjustment looks like. So I’ll have you come on, Bailey, and have you lay on your stomach for me.

All right, so when we look at this here, we can see that with this pelvic piece lifted up, this allows the belly to be able to sit in this little pocket down here without having any pressure on her belly, the uterus, and the baby.

The Webster Technique and Adjustment Tools

So what we do here, we do the Webster technique, along with mobilizing and getting the hip joints and the sacrum joint loosened to allow the expansion of that pelvic region. So as the uterus continues to expand while baby is growing, we’ll be able to get the best process for the baby to have a good, smooth delivery towards the end.

So we use a couple different techniques. One, we’ll sometimes use this drop table piece right here to realign the hips where needed. We also would use an activator as well, depending on where we need to hit the trigger points here to allow the muscles to kind of relax to get a better adjustment process as well.

And then also, we would be utilizing this ArthroStim. Now, with this ArthroStim, we would kind of start off with loosening the sacrotuberous ligament, which is down here in the sacral area. And we would do that adjustment down in this lower section for about 30 seconds so we can allow that ligament there to relax. So when we do the hip and sacral adjustment, the joints just move a lot smoother and easier.

Checking and Adjusting the Sacrum and Lumbar Spine

Once we’re done with that, we’ll come into the sacrum and SI joint area, whether it’s the right or the left, and do some palpation and feel where the joint is not moving very well.

So with our patient Bailey here, her right side here is stuck. And so what we’re gonna do is we’re gonna use this drop table piece to elevate that piece up, and we’re gonna do a light little drop on this sacrum and SI joint. We’re gonna do that between one to three times until we feel that joint moving easier.

So we got that joint moving better, which is really good to see. And then we’ll come in through L5, L4, L3, L2, and L1, just making sure we got joint mobility in there as well.

So feeling her lumbar spine, we can feel, at about L2, it’s stuck. So I’m gonna be pulling out the activator in this area just to get that joint mobilized in there, and just recheck to make sure we got some motion back into that joint.

Checking the Round and Broad Ligaments

Now, once we’re done with this—the pelvic adjustment and the sacral adjustment here—we’re gonna have the patient flip around onto her back. So let’s go ahead and flip around.

We drop that lower piece there, and what we want to do is we want to be able to check the round ligaments down here in the lower section and the broad ligament that comes all the way across. And as we feel around, we’ll feel one side feels tighter than the other.

So I can feel her left round ligament is tighter than the right side. So we just wanna be able to hold some pressure on that ligament and have mama make sure she’s breathing in and out, focusing on that pressure on that spot there until we feel that ligament just relax and kind of melt away underneath our thumb.

Sometimes it takes a few seconds. I can feel baby bouncing around and kicking me down there. He says, leave me alone, this is my space. Let’s kind of move around with that ligament.

Most of the time, it’s tender for the mama, and so eventually the tenderness will start to go away, which will let us know also that that ligament is starting to relax and calm down.

We’ll just come and just recheck. We got less tension down there as well. This is a part of the Webster technique that we provide in this office.
